About Us

Three people, two women and a man, are outdoors in a snowy landscape, holding chocolate Lab puppies. They are dressed warmly, with the man and one woman wearing orange hats, and all are smiling. Behind them is a large evergreen tree and a snow-covered ground.

Our first Pudelpointer was acquired in 1995 from one of the founders of the breed in North America, Dr. Jacob Lulack of Birchwood's Kennel. Dr. Lulack owned, imported, and bred Pudelpointers since 1964. Nearly all pedigrees of Pudelpointers bred in North America reveal Birchwoods influence.

With encouragement, guidance, and insight from Dr. Lulack, our first two Birchwoods Pudelpointers, Nash and Sage, became the foundation of Rock Creek Pudelpointers.

Scott and Denise both grew up in Minnesota and have been passionate about all outdoor endeavors from childhood. Married in 1989, we relocated to our secluded home in the northwoods in 2000 where we home-schooled all four of our children and operated our kennel on a full time basis. Raising and training pudelpointers has been our family passion. All of our children have trained and tested numerous dogs, and, as adults, have at some point worked at the kennel.

Pudelpointers have been a big part of our life and family since 1995. They have enriched our lives and all of our outdoor adventures. Thank you for visiting our website and be sure to check out our Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube links below.

Our eldest daughter, Erin Kalpin, now married and a mother herself, graduated with a BA in English. She has worked full time at our kennel since 2017 (actually, since she could walk).

Erin has qualified numerous NA and UT dogs and has tested dogs at the Invitational level. She is a NAVHDA  Judge and a contributing editor for the Versatile Hunting Dog magazine.

She works for us under the LLC Upland Endeavors and currently trains, photographs, and writes about all things outdoors.
